how do we book you for our wedding?
To book The Geldenhuyses, couples start by filling out the contact form on thegeldenhuyses.com with details about themselves and their wedding. If it's a good fit and the date is available, they send a pricing brochure, followed by a call to finalise details.
Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should we book you?
The Geldenhuyses typically only take on 25-30 weddings every year so our availability is limited. We encourage couples to book as soon as they have a confirmed date to avoid disappointment.
How do we secure our date?
We require a 50% retainer and signed contract to secure your wedding date.
Pricing & Packages
How much does wedding photography and videography cost in cape town?
There is a vast range of pricing within the Cape Town photography and videography industry. The Geldenhuyses' full day coverage pricing starts from R40 000 for photography and videography each individually, and combined packages start from R72 000.
What's included in your packages?
The Geldenhuyses offer 3 different packages each covering your full wedding day. The minimum delivery is 8 hours of coverage, 500 edited images and a 4-5 minute highlight film.
Do you offer photography and videography as a combined package?
Yes, we do. The Geldenhuyses are a husband and wife photography and videography team.
Are there any additional costs we should know about (travel, extra hours, etc.)
The Geldenhuyses' packages are not inclusive of travel, please refer to the Travel section of this page for information regarding travel costs. Additional extras are indicated in the pricing brochure and will be disclosed before booking.
Do you offer engagement or pre-wedding shoots?
Yes, The Geldenhuyses love Engagement Shoots and recommend it to all their clients. Not only will you have the most beautiful photos to commemorate this time in your lives, but they also come in handy when designing wedding stationary and websites.
Coverage & The Day Itself
How many hours of coverage do we get?
The Geldenhuyses packages range from 8-10 hours of coverage.
Do you cover getting-ready, ceremony, and reception?
Yes, all packages cover all these aspects of the day. The difference in the packages is how much time is allocated to each part of the day.
How many photographers/videographers will be at our wedding?
All of The Geldenhuyses photography & videography packages include 1 photographer/videographer, and our 10 hour photography package includes 2 photographers.
Can we add a second photographer or videographer to our package?
Yes, The Geldenhuyses do offer a second shooter as an optional extra.
Do we need a second photographer or videographer?
Generally we do not feel that this is necessary. The Geldenhuyses shoot 90% of their weddings completely solo. We set up the timeline in a way that gives us more than enough time to cover every part of the day. However there are situations that do require an additional shooter. If the Bride and Groom are getting ready too far from each other and time doesn't permit us to make it to both before the ceremony we will recommend a second photographer. We also recommend a second shooter for weddings over 200 guests or where you have many traditional aspects that require multiple angles (eg. Jewish Weddings).
What happens if the day runs over the booked hours?
If for whatever reason your day is running late The Geldenhuyses do offer the option to add an additional hour on the day. We keep track of the time and if we notice that time is running late due to circumstances beyond our control, during the reception we will come to you before time is up and offer the option to stay longer. We will never just leave once our scheduled time is finished if we see that all the formalities are not concluded.
Is it necessary for you to have shot another wedding at my venue before?
No, The Geldenhuyses do not feel that having a photographer or videographer who's shot at your venue before should be a requirement. We are very spoilt with venues in the Western Cape which means that most of the time we are shooting at a new venue each wedding. We believe that shooting at a new venue is an advantage because we are more attentitive to finding beautiful and unique spots instead of just resorting to what we did the previous time we were at that venue.
Do you scout or visit the venue beforehand?
The Geldenhuyses do not require a site visit before the wedding, but if it is a new venue to them they will arrive earlier and scout for the most beautiful spots for your photos. We also ask you what drew you to the venue and if there are specific areas that you love and want to be photographed.
Style & Approach
What is your photography/videography style?
The Geldenhuyses have a natural and documentary style with enough instruction to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera and capture beautifully composed images, all while still allowing real moments to unfold.
How would you describe your editing style?
The Geldenhuyses' editing style compliments the way they shoot, natural and true to colour. We want the colours in our photos and videos to be accurate according to how they were on the day.
How involved are you in directing the day?
We know that most couples are not 100% comfortable in front of the camera and need some direction. We believe in positioning you in the correct place to create a beautiful image but letting the moment unfold naturally from there. With the couple shoot we tend to direct more but prefer to use prompts like "talk about the best part of your day" instead of "posing" directly. We want you to feel comfortable while still experience the true emotions of the day.
Destination & Travel
What are your travel costs?
The Geldenhuyses' packages all include travel for weddings within 100 Kilometres from their home in Sea Point, Cape Town. Further than that we charge R5.50 per KM. We also require accommodation for weddings more than 200 Kilometres from Sea Point which we will invoice and book ourselves. For weddings taking place outside of the Western Cape we will require 1 x Return Flight per shooter + any additional travel costs from the airport.
Do you shoot destination weddings?
Absolutely! The Geldenhuyses have had the privilege of shooting weddings in Italy, France, Spain, USA, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique.
What is your pricing for international weddings?
The Geldenhuyses handle each international inquiry separately based on where the wedding is taking place. Please inquire for our US, Europe or rest-of-Africa packages.
Deliverable & Timeline
How many photos will we receive?
Our base package includes a minimum of 550 photos.
How long will our wedding film be?
All our packages include a 5 minute Highlight Film.
Do we get a preview in the days following the wedding?
Absolutely! We will deliver a gallery of roughly 80-100 photos in the week following your wedding.
How long will it take for us to receive our full gallery?
Our turn-around time is 12-15 weeks.
How do we receive our final gallery?
We deliver your photo and video galleries via an online gallery with a unique download link that can be shared with friends and family.
Do we get the raw/unedited files?
We do not include the RAW images or videos in any of our packages, but they are available for purchase as an extra.
Do you offer albums or prints?
We do offer Luxury Wedding Albums as part of our top packages, and you can also add it as an extra to any of our other packages.
Logistics & Practicalities
Do you provide a timeline or help us plan the day's schedule?
Yes we do sit with you and draw up a timeline for your wedding day. If you are working with a planner or coordinator they tend to take the lead on this and ask for my input when needed.
Will you be shooting our wedding?
Absolutely! The Geldenhuyses is who we are and we shoot every wedding ourselves as we believe that our brand is built on who we are as people. We take great pride in our business and reflect that personally on your wedding day.
What if you are no longer able to shoot my wedding?
The only reason why we would no longer be able to capture your wedding is due to an emergency. If so and we are no longer able to capture your wedding we will either offer you the option of a trusted associate shooter capturing your day, or a full refund. Please be at ease that this has never happened in our 9 years as a business.

We truly value marriage and love that a wedding is the starting point of it. We love real moments, from the Bride putting on her wedding dress for the first time, her Father setting his sights on her with pride in his eyes, and of course the moment that she walks down the aisle to her husband.
